30 everyday scenarios in 6 chapters, from introducing yourself to calling in sick to work. Each scenario has goals to reach, like ordering a drink. You speak out loud, the AI tutor answers, and coach notes show what to improve.

Opening Out & about shows its 7 scenarios, starting with Café order. In Café order, practicing Japanese, you say アイスのコーヒーをください, “An iced coffee, please.” The AI tutor answers and asks which size you want. Two goals are checked off: Order one drink, and Choose size or temperature. A coach note suggests saying アイスコーヒー as one word.
Each scenario is one everyday situation, like ordering at a café. You play yourself, and the AI tutor plays the barista. There are 8 goals to reach, and you answer in your own words. Each goal is checked off when you reach it. A scenario takes about 5 minutes.
Each goal has 2 example phrases. Open a goal to read them and hear them spoken. For Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and a few other languages, you can switch the phrases to Latin letters.
Your sessions are saved to your account. In Review, replay your own audio and the AI tutor’s replies, and read the transcript with its coach notes.
Talk with the AI tutor about anything you like. There are no goals, and coach notes follow each turn, as in a scenario.
Switch the microphone bar from Talk to How to say. Say or type what you mean in your own language, and the AI tutor tells you how to say it in the language you’re practicing.
Clear and easy to follow. Hold the long vowel in コーヒー a little longer.
アイスコーヒーをください。
Your order is clear. In a café, アイスコーヒー is one word, so you can drop の.
Using ください makes your order polite and natural at a counter.
After each turn, coach notes comment on your pronunciation, your grammar, and the answer as a whole. When a sentence needs fixing, they show a corrected version.
Say or type a phrase in your own language and hear it in the language you’re practicing. Each phrase uses 1 interaction. Translations stay on the page until you leave it, and Speakroom doesn’t save them.
